Dampers and polybush
Hi all

I am looking into changing the dampers and maybe fitting a polybush kit to my 110 utility, has anyone fitted the polybush kits? And did they make much difference to the ride? Are there any other makes better?
She has done 50K now and its starting to feel a bit sloppy Shocked

Any recommendations of dampers? I am after something to improve comfort and ride.

I've tried Polys, not a fan at all.

+1 for genuine bushes from me too. Might be more of a pain to remove &a fit, but well
Worth it compared to the poly alternatives, IMHO.

I have been running the Polybush orange (Dynamic) for over a year now. (bought from YRM with the graded stainless hardware). I am very happy with the ride, not harsh at all, less of a vague feel on the tarmac. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Big problem with poly is although it's stiffer, cheaper to make and longer lasting, it's also far less effective at isolating noise and vibration, which is why car manufacturers do not use it. Whether that extra noise and vibration make mulch real difference on a defender is another issue. It's noticeable on my mini.

I can not speak for Defender but when I use poly on a gearbox mount for another vehicle I renovate it was a big mistake. The noise and vibration were not acceptable and finally I returned to rubbing ones. More work to do and must change again in future but better.

Poly on Fiesta for small road competition use were super. For offroad use in Defender not.
In Fiesta, there were barely any movement in very hard suspension when used on road. With Defender and offroad use, it is quite opposite - long springs, big movement of axles. Some cheap poly were just pulled out of their fixing - they literally flowed out. Higher quality are quite expensive, comparing to genuine LR bushes.
On Discovery 2 with 200 000km I have changed first 2 original bushes. For genuine. I hope, they will survive for long time. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile

I'm quite happy with genuine, that being said I've not tried others.

I've not tried polybushes in the suspension components but done it on a panhard rod and was utter ****.

The fight with genuine ones is worth it, mine were on there 160k miles and 22 years. They were knackered when they came off though. Ed

I don't think all poly bushes are the same. I know there are several brands out there, and like most things, if you buy cheap, you get cheap. Genuine Polybush, and SuperPro bushes are good quality, I have yet to hear of any issues with failure or ride quality, from those I know with them fitted. I have heard of failure and ride quality issues with other brands.

Allmakes used to cary Polybush, now they are selling their own brand. In my mind, dropping a brand name product to introduce the "house brand" usually is done with profit as motivation, and rarely is of the same quality. it's a Landrover thing...

Superpro lasted 20k miles on my 90 and were completely shot. Used only for laning and road use I was very disappointed.

Bilstein B6 with ride control is good. Comfort setting for off-road and then a harder setting for road. Woeks very good. All from button in cockpit. For me this came with vehicle so can not compare to original but my friend who had same defender before said to me very big improvement.

I use Blue Polybushes on mine and rate them, have had on several Defenders and Classic Range Rovers with no issues or change to NVH
