What diameter is the star tech? Is it a little smaller than stock?

Hi a classic Mini steering wheel has the correct 48 spline and with a bit of work can be used to cancel indicators too. They can be picked up from eBay and scrapyards for a few quid. With the application of a small Land Rover badge I think they look good as a budget option.

![]() This style , of course I think the Startech are lovely but they are very expensive, they are a quality item though. Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated ![]() |

I like them as it looks like it fits with the rest of the interior, any guide on how to apply the indicators? Mine doesn't cancel when I turn the well anyway at the moment! 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW 1956 Series 1 Hard-top 1958 Series 1 Soft-top Last edited by Kit on 28th May 2017 4:30pm. Edited 1 time in total |

I'll whip it off and have a look at what modification I did to make them cancel. I like these for the Td5 interior for sure as they do look factory . I think startech for the Puma interior though.

Ours have various raid ones but I am very partial to the startech. I keep dropping hints but the have landed yet. I have always thought that a lot of the momo ones look like they should be on novas with stick on flames on the side and loud music blaring. But it is definitely a matter of personal taste.

I linked to one of those further up, I think you'll be lucky to find one "for a few quid in a scrap yard" these days, it used to be the case, not anymore though. They are good wheels, about 14" if I recall correctly. I think for the indicators the mini one you had to chop the lug off the back and put a couple of screws in to it to make the self cancel work. I've had a few of them on minis and remember fitting on on a Series 3 years ago. Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated ![]() |

Another vote for the startech, suits the interior and is not blingy..
Lovely to hold and although I got lucky on mine second hand almost new I think given it transforms the way the car feels to drive even at £400 + it would have been done ![]() Click image to enlarge imho some of the aftermarket ones look a bit max power.. ![]() |

well documented on D2N... the Startech is for me one of the best mods' (IMO)...
one I would not wish to be without now...combined with a quick release boss system it just feels right on (and off) the vehicle... ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |

That is a lovely set up!
One thing to keep in mind when fitting a vinyl or leather steering wheel is, summer time it will be red hot, winter time it will be ice cold. It's the main reason I chose an alcantara/suede one. If your concern is the material fading, it took about 3 years for it to start to wear off on my 90 and it was in my mates track car for 3 years prior to that! |
