There is no argument. You are wrong that is all.
You are suggesting that the person who come to 2nd place in the presidential election have power. You say Le Pen "rised to power". But she recoup nothing, ZERO for coming to the 2nd place very far behind Macron. This is for president, the executive section of state. The president then picks his team of government. No prize for 2nd place. In France this is not how the opposition arrives. It arrives in the legislative elections that in fact happen today and 2nd round in 2 weeks. From 577 seats in this parliment the Front National have only had 2 places and not one for Le Pen. What you say is like to say the Green party in the UK is the official opposition of power. It appears in reality we have a big winner here in France
 The far right has been rejected right across Europe, apart from with Mrs May who is now embracing them it seems. Sad times for the UK, worrying times for Ireland and much worse to come I fear.  |

but we must mention that also the far left, left and just left have also been rejected today in France in accordance with FN.
I am sur that it is not so good to have all the power like this to Macron but it was time for big changes and now he can push his changes easy. |

Riverboy, it may surprise you to know that my youngest daughter is currently at Swansea uni studying particle physics (no I don't know either but it's got something to do with a big pipe under the ground in Switzerland), she has been absolutely shocked at the majority of student behaviour and attitude towards drinking partying and lecture attendance, whether from lower income families who have large grants or from higher income families who get no grants as mummy and daddy pay for everything. Read Freypal's post second paragraph. She says exactly the same thing, she will be the one to benefit from her higher education so why shouldn't she pay for it. Her words, "if labour win and anyone who wants to go to uni can go for free then god help us, its bad enough here now, I have an average 40 hours a week lecture time, the other 3 girls I live with have on average 6 hours per week! We are all here for 3 years!! Most of the time they don't even bother to go to lectures. One of them has just bought a horse with her student loan!!!" Please don't be under the impression that my daughter is a wall flower type book worm, she is not. She took a year out after A-levels and worked to save some money to go to uni, she has a student loan and a small student grant and we help her of course. She believes in hard work for maximum reward, very much UNlike a lot of her peers. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results. See this in Aussie too.
Many of ém get useless degrees that they never use, & some just go to Uni, & end up doing nothing,..at the taxpayers expense. But of course, there are many genuine STUDENTS too, who really do appreciate the privilege of attending Uni,..they go on to get very good jobs, and are well rewarded financially for the sacrifice they make,...my brother in law studied super hard,..He has a PHD in Nuclear Physics! I've got no problem with Students obtaining some sort of fee relief when studying, but it should be performance based, with a fully enforceable repayment agreement, when that person achieves gainful employment. Quite a thread drift here!!
What irks me about all this stuff about University fees is when people find it ok to spend thousands a year on private 'Primary School' education fees (A,B,C..1,2,3 stuff) yet then later find it not ok to spend money of a getting high end, research driven university education with creditable lectures, amazing support and back-up facilities at University. A University education should also be accessible to all, irrespective of 'means'. If it's affordable, it's surely fair to pay for it, if it's not, then some subsidy should be given as required. I do believe this should be the goal of any Government. YOLO... You Only Live Once... |

Some interesting stuff here, particularly Freypal & Rallymental. The lady I mentioned above was a student before tuition fees, when grants were dished out. She got hers and promptly went out and spent a fortune on a saxophone. I can only guess at what a lesbian geology student did with a saxophone, she definately did'nt learn to play it. Certainly not in the conventional way.
As a lifelong Tory, I was rather disappointed by the outcome of the GE. I was impressed by Theresa when she took over, especially after the first speech outside No10 and hoped she might usher in a new era of unity, prosperity and enterprise by negotiating a good deal for post-Brexit Britain. That opportunity seems to have been thrown away. Whether that's down to her, her close advisors or the fact that the Tory politicians seem to have dumbed-down by almost as much as the Labour politicians have dumbed-down, I don't know. Whatever happens next, I get the feeling that, as a nation, we've gone from cautious optimism to head-shaking bafflement. I personally feel angry that the politicians, on both sides, are messing about with this country for their own reasons and to further their own hidden agendas and that they're telling increasingly outrageous lies in order to gain votes. Ironic that Theresa, after threatening the UK with a Labour led "coalition of chaos" is now putting together exactly that. I can't see how she can stay on after this fiasco. If we've got to have a circus, we might as well have a clown. Step forward Prime Minister Boris. |

As a lesbian trapped in a man's body I resent the above comments regarding lesbians and saxophones. I'm sure there are some very fine lesbian saxophone players out there. I've never met one but I'm certain they exist.
