Insurance on a Jap 50th....who would be worth trying?
Agreed a deal on a Jap import 50th Edition. Who's good to approach for insurance?

I'm with Admiral on my current 3 cars but adding a car mid term isn't usually economic and the 50th is a little less main stream. 110 DCPU

My 2016 XS SW is about £300 on my Admiral multi-car policy. I'm happy at that kind of level.

Really just want the best company for a more classic Defender. 110 DCPU

I've always found APlan to be very good not sure about imports but they have beaten my usual internet comparison quotes.

It's the import thing I'm thinking about....not sure that even if I went to Admiral they would insure it?

I'll try A-Plan. I've used them in the past.

Thumbs Up 110 DCPU

I've insured my Jap import 50th with A-Plan as I wanted an agreed value policy which I couldn't get with main stream lenders. The company who I have my Discovery with were just going to treat it as a nearly 20 year old Defender and value it as such Shocked Cheers Ian

It was a sequence of events which led me into looking for another car yesterday evening.......

My daily driver is a 2008 BMW 520D Touring....perfect for work and taking the dog to the beach. Anyway, the turbo (I assumed), started whistling a week ago and was booked in with the dealer today. However, on the way home from work yesterday evening the whistling stopped and the power disappeared which let me into looking for a runabout in case the BMW was off the road for a few weeks.

In all honesty it's not ideal for its intended use (certainly not the fuel economy!), but the price seemed reasonable and it looked in great condition with the exception of some mostly cosmetic bits which I'll have attended to. The engine sounded very sweet Mr. Green

It gives me some time to sort out the BMW or find a more practical replacement. I really need a bigger garage! 110 DCPU

I'm content with Admiral....whatever I insure they always advise they pay out "market value" which is good enough for me.

Currently have a 600mile Mint Green 911 GTS, a 1600mile Defender, a turbo-less 150,000mile BMW Touring and now the 50th Mr. Green 110 DCPU

Ian (Hairy Dan!), I have a question....does the A-bar come as standard on the 50th? I've seen quite a few with it.

My purchase has a standard bumper with a chrome A-bar which was fitted later. I want it back to standard...whatever that may be?

Cheers Thumbs Up

The black A bar seems to be fitted to a lot of them but I don't know if it was standard. If you have a look at Jeremy's thread from when he imported it

http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30422.html

you can see it had the A- bar fitted and if you have a look at the Japanese auction site

https://www.tradecarview.com/used_car/land...amp;co=392

You can see that most of them have the black A Bar fitted.

I don't think the chequer plate was standard on the Japanese ones.

Yours looks great, does it still have the import sticker on the windscreen? Laughing

Ha ha NO! But it does have a 50th badge on the rear side windows Thumbs Up

This does have black chequer plate fitted but I believe that was the current owners doing - I'm personally not a fan.

Also has electric windows that I need to put back to manual (wind-up!) and get that steering guard off Mr. Green

Thanks for the links...I'll have a read. I do have a brand new front bumper off my 2016 XS SW which I could fit. 110 DCPU
