RANT! WHAT on earth is going on in Defender Land?
Here we are, in sunny Oz.

Waking up to hear of a possible 'Hung Parliment' in the UK!

WFT is going on with the UK! As an Ex-pat living here, I cannot understand how so many people do not understand the simple FACT, that right now, the UK needs UNITY!

With Brexit, border security (terrorism) and economic recovery, the last thing the UK needs is a government reduced in mandate and ineffectiveness over a see-saw hung Parliment. The GBP has already fallen nearly 2% on this result. Sorry guys, you are all bloody mad!

I can only think that the 'marketing and advertising' effectiveness of political campaigning must be falling woefully short of getting this one simple fact through to the masses... and that is that the UK needs a majority government, and a big majority at that! Either party will do, just give them a solid mandate to do their job properly!

It's actually the same here, basically 50:50 Labor/Liberal. But somehow the gravity of such a result here in Oz pails into in-significance compared with the importance of having strong leadership in the UK, leadership that is seen not only domestically, but also on the world stage.

It's really sad to see my 'home' in such a bloody mess. I just hope the new Defender sorts this out!

Rant over! Wink YOLO... You Only Live Once...

Yolo, the biggest thing that has caused the proceedings to be not so quite clear cut is that corbyn has promised all the soppy students that they can go to university and do Censored all for 3 years for free, so in an unprecedented move the students have got off their lazy arses and gone to vote, probably on the way to the pub! The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.

I dont wish to start an argument, but anyone with children at university or in my case nephews who I know work bloody hard in their studies and in finding ways to manage financially whilst there, would find your sweeping assertions about British university students extremely insulting and misguided.

It's a funny old situation.

A conservative leader who can't relate to anyone under 30, that actually wants to make a go of their lives. A labour leader that anyone over 40 won't touch because of what happened under old labour. Nothing worth voting for in the middle.

I know where my vote went. And it wasn't for the party that wants to privatise the NHS that keeps me alive, nor was it for the party that so badly wants us out of the EU, the EU that vastly broadens my horizons both culturally and professionally.

For reference. I'm from a working class background. I have a Bachelors in Engineering (the first to go to uni in recent history in my family), I've just started my own company. And apparently, I still don't know the first thing about hard work.

Riverboy, I have to say our colleges and university's just take the funding and mess students about. I been on 2 courses were expensive and were funded by the government for free, this is going back in the 00s. The college mess everyone about that much that no one ended taking the exams, So I am not surprised that some have led that way sadly. I tried bloody hard to get into computers as a PC tech for a school. I was told Microsoft stuff was the way to go. Companies will be wanting to talk to us etc. My MCP in windows XP isn't worth the paper its written on, and that's going back when I got it. I wouldn't go to university at all, after going twice on a refresher course for the server side. It was worse than college! I could have just done everything at home. Basically it was a repeat of what happened in the 1st course i did at college. I was self funding at the time, So i told them to shove the course as far up their arse as they could. I wasn't going to fork out 500 quid plus for Censored . Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Well, llike I've said, I'm a long way away, but I wouldn't look at it that way, & I am not decrying the difficulty of self funding a Uni. Education. We have the same issue here.
It boils down to how it will be funded. There is only so much money to go around,...if more is spent on Uni stuff etc, then something else will suffer, same with any part of the budget,..you spend more on one thing,....then something else gets less.
What I do NOT like is Govts blatantly promising stuff in Campaigns, simply to get votes, when clearly there are more needing & important issues requiring budgetary attention.....this is what happens in Aussie anyway!
What is important, particularly for you guys, and the world I guess, is that you get a strong leader, respected on the world stage, who will be absolutely capable of leading you through, what will obviously be, some very challenging times.
I thought May sounded OK, but if you voters think Corbyn is that person, then so be it.
Good Luck, Pickles.

As another expat I wish everybody over there the very best wishes. But it seems like a generational thing, the flirtation with the belief that there can be free everything! It is the same here, state media, the judiciary and education are fundamentally left wing. We all tread our own path too live a lifestyle too differing degrees, so good luck I think you need it! I remember the three day week, petrol rationing of the seventies and power cuts and what caused it!

I well remember that old 'dinner party rule'...

If you wanted a 'peaceful and boring' evening, never discuss sex, religion or politics!

Bah humbug!

My post was more about the big picture here. The UK has 2 BIG issues right now, bigger than health or education. Brexit and national security. To have achieved clear direction, and most importantly a clear message national, and internationally, a majority government rather than a hung parliament was essential IMHO.

It's just a bloody shame. I fear this election result will just make matters much worse. Sad YOLO... You Only Live Once...

Perhaps it mean that you do not doing Brexit now?

Crazy, in socialist In France the left is finished but in the Anglo-saxon UK the marxist left arrive.

Most politicians are behaving like children , bickering , arguing (instead of debating)
And worst of all lie about each other , they seem to have no respect between themselves
And less for the people.
The media have been also allowed to lie ,defame and slander at will ( all sides)
Results in people have no idea and vote on misinformation, propaganda and FEAR.
The first lead who leads by example and doesn't fall into this reality tv type politics will win hands down
But no one seems to be able to show real class and leadership. Have fun be happy

I admit now that I don't know too much about politics (or defenders) but am I not right in suggesting everything is pretty free when labour are in power ......up to a point where they've sold off all our reserves to the point where the country is almost broke (isn't that what happened last time they were in power)?

everyone needs to get off there fat ass and work for a living rather than to expect payouts for doing jack sh11t (clearly payout should be there but ONLY for those that TRULY need it. how the hell can some people earn more on benefits than those in work Evil or Very Mad

and I completely agree with yolo110 sentiments Thumbs Up

ps....I give a monkeys now as my heater fan is working again Mr. Green . just need to get the a/c sorted and then the gearbox, transferbox, adapter shaft, clutch damper valve, thrust bearing and rear diff (just a few more weeks Very Happy )

Sad, but at least Macron is a recent exception which confirms this rule. So there is hope. Thumbs Up
His opponent was the archi-type confirming the rule. Rolling Eyes

Corbyn's crazy idea of introducing a £10 minimum wage would have had many minimum wagers scurrying along to the polling stations too. Rolling Eyes 2006 TD5110 station wagon

All Good.
But let's cut out the crap.
Who, (which leader) in YOUR opinion, is best placed to lead your Country out of its mess.
If you read my posts, you'll know my choice.
Pickles.
At the risk of derision (couldn't care less), I never cease to believe how the totally unfunded "rhetoric" of people like Corbyn can be believed by any responsible person...If you voted for him,..I hope He delivers, and that He can stand up for the UK, and protect & promote you guys, in the very perilous journey ahead.
