What Benefits of fitting a HI-FLOW Performance Intercooler??
This is going to sound like a stupid question.... Embarassed

I was going to fit a Hi - Flow Performance Intercooler and silicon pipes But I 'm slightly puzzled over what benefits I would get to my 2010 2.4 Puma? I use it for normal day to day driving I don't go off roading or do any towing with it. I have an Alive remap and enjoy all the extra power and toque that gives me so what benefit's in terms of power and toque would the intercooler give me? 2010 Defender 90 HT

It will take down the temperature internal of a tuning engine. Not more else is necessary. You will fit and with no alternative changes you will not have any difference unless you have hot engine running problem.

I know this because I do lot research because the seller who sell me my Defender have one and try to push me to this piece for the price I can recoup many more things with bigger impact so finally I decline. If I make tuning of engine for "stage 2" I only then would pose this piece but can not do this in France inside of law.

A Hi flow Performance intercooler should give your engine more oxygen.
The Hi flow intercooler should have less resistance then an standard intercooler so higher pressure at the engine and the inlet temperature should be cooler so more dense air so more concentrated and at a higher pressure.
I mentioned should because how much is the difference?

With my tuned td5 my inlet temp goes upto 50 C if I really push hard, I doubt if a perfomance intercooler will get that temperature below 30 C.

So

(P * V)/T = C

The T is temperature in Kelvin so 30 C is 303 K and 50 C is 323 K and 323/303=1.066. So there will be 6.6 % more oxygen in the engine.
So with the right map your could use that oxygen to get more power.

Why do I keep the pressure constant? Standard is the wastegate regulated by the pressure directely after the turbo so before the intercooler you can easily change that to after the intercooler. This way the wastegate will compensate for the resistance off your intercooler. Roel

Make sure its actually bigger not just high flow. If its just high flow it wont make much of a difference.
