Australia 2006 Defender 110 Td5 XS DCPU Java Black
Josh_WA's Defender 110 Double Cab
Well I finally picked myself up a 2006 Defender. It's a 110 Double Cab XS ( UK Delivered) with the TD5. This was privately imported to Aus from the Motherland in January 2010 and one owner since new. Came with 43000 km's on the clock so its basically brand new.

options are as follows:

Leather Trim & Power windows ( XS model)
Air Cond
Heated Seats
upgraded radio ( for a defender this means its still awful but at least u can hear it)
Towing pack
Front Bumper with A Bar fitted
Canvas Canopy to rear tub
Extended wheel arch flares and mudflaps
'luxury' carpet

Goodies

33" x 12.5 KHUMO Mud Terrains
Rock Sliders
PIAA Spotlights with Rock protectors
Chequer plate kit
Twisted Performance "Gale Force" Upgrade consisting of
-2.5" stainless free flow exhaust ( no cat or mufflers)
-silicone hoses
- new manifold
- performance chip
- performance intercooler
- new air filter assembly and filter
- stainless turbo pipes and clamps
- EGR bypass kit

I'm sure theres more but I have snapped up a beauty as the guy who had it was very good about keeping recipts and correspondence for everything including the original sale contract.

Anyway here are some photos hope to take some better ones when i get home.

Let the mayhem begin Very Happy

Australia 2006 Defender 110 Td5 XS DCPU Java Black
I got the car back today from having a new ECU fitted to fix an air conditioner not working..... Its no fun driving a black defender in Perth when its 40 plus degrees. I'm glad its fixed now and all i need is some window tint to keep the inside cooler so the A/c does not crap itself when its hot.

I also decided that it was time to take the canvas canopy off... i like it and everything but it has to come off for the windows to be tinted so it might as well stay off for a few weeks. hopefully i will get one made up soon that has opening on either side and the rear and with some kind of mesh under the canvas so i can have the dogs in the back when we drive around and still keep ventilation going through so they dont cook.

it was a bit of a mission but i reckon it totally transforms the truck when the farmer brown canopy comes off. and i can actually see when reversing now so thats a bonus. Stay tuned for the tint and dual battery setup in a month or so when i get back and then the UHF and overhead console.

anyway i thought i'd take a few pics to post up.....enjoy Very Happy

Iv'e also ordered a VW "99" relay for the wipers thanks to the awesome info you guys have given out in the threads about intermittent wipers. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up ________________________

Good looking truck, but can I ask about your air-con issues? I have an XS TD5 and the air-con fan is stuck on permanently. I read somewhere that it takes a path to earth through the ECU which brings the fan on in an overheat condition and, once on, it needs an ECU reset (fault code cleared?) to take it off again.

Have not managed to get this verified and, as a temporary measure, have disconnected the fan - it's not so warm here at the moment!

Hey mate.. my air con was not working at all... the air con guy tested it and said it was working then the auto sparky said it wasnt talking to the ECU. the landy mechanics said it was a fault in the ECU that could not be cleared. it turned out to be that the wires were fried. I dont know much about it as it was fixed under warranty. id say get a nanocom and clear the fault code... if that does not fix it then it might be an ECU fault like mine.

Cheers mate. I'm in Perth which is pretty nice spot to live although I am away most of the year working in offshore oil and gas. I am actually headed up to the North Sea for a month next week... thats a bit of a change of pace and weather for me but i'm sure it will be fine.

The black landy does get stinking hot here in 35 deg plus weather we have been having, its ok with the flaps open and driving but when you are at the lights you cook. I find it muc hbetter now the air con works and i am having the windows tinted while i am away so that should stop the cab heating up and make the air con slightly more efficient.

will post up pics when its done. ________________________

Thanks for the info. Will have to get a nanocom on it, as you say. Tried to get the local stealer to read and clear the codes - £40 for the privilege and "Sorry sir, can't read the codes. Will have to reset the ECU". Evil or Very Mad Said no to that as it has been tuned by BAS.

well I've been a bit busy offshore on ebay....

ive ordered a headlight wiring upgrade from a local company here in AUS. it replaces all the whole loom and also adds chunkier wires for the spotties. the best part it is ads a relay in so that you dont burn out your swithc in the stalk.

http://www.traxide.com.au/HL_info.html

I have also ordered HID upgrades for my Lightforce Blitz 240's and see how they go i might convert my headlamps to HID also.....even though this would not meet ADR requirements ect... Whistle

When I get home in a month or so i wil be putting in a UHF and overhead console and hope to have the ti nt done by then also so that will be good. will post pics up when i do the installs.

Cheers ________________________
