Warranty work and roof removal
I've had the go ahead from Landrover to get the paint bubbling around the alpine windows on my USW sorted and it's booked in with the approved body shop in May
They've told me is a roof off job , including the RAI and obviously the roof rack and rear work light ( the cabling from that comes through the roof ! God knows why but that's how LR have done it ! )
What do I need to check before I accept it back from the shop in terms of the roof back on properly ?
I will video and photo the conditions and cleanliness off all the trim before hand and I do have confidence in the body shop , but just want to make sure that is done properly

I recently had my roof taken off for warranty work, it was corroding under the gutter above the rear door.

Only problem I had was a squeaky bit of trim where they had reused a fir tree which was easily fixed.

Just check for trim damage, rattles and leaks when you get it back.

Take lots of photos of the position of the roof (exactly how it sits on the front corners above the windscreen frame. Alignment with the body panels etc. As well, lots of photos of the trim inside. Make sure they use all new seals, and the roof is fully leak tested BEFORE the headliner and trim goes back in.

Water ingress will be your biggest potential issue. Ensure they are going to back up some sort of warranty on that. it's a Landrover thing...

Update from the body shop !
It needs a new roof ! All under warranty so how bad was the corrosion then?
Will find out when I speak to them next week , still it means I have the discovery sorry courtesy car for a bit longer , perhaps I'll like get to like it eventually !

exactly the same with mine - 2010 with bubbling around alpine window.

Now has a new roof, windscreen surround, new bulkhead to screen seal, new sliding window catches, lower front grill section........but, when done originally, it leaked when I got it back, the seal was not replaced and out of line, and the sealant between roof and windscreen frame was still wet, not cured and had gaps and cracks appear when it did go off. To boot, the body shop / transporter ruined all 4 tyres from transit - the straps cut chunks out of brand new BFGs, so now it has 4 new BFG's too.

Trigger's broom springs to mind now, but was shocked at the quality of the repair work. As above, take lots of photos of it now, and then check everything; all the joints seams etc and run a hose over the roof to see if it leaks.

fingers crossed, but spend your time inspecting, as I am pleased I was picky, as I have had so much work done now under warranty, so hopefully will last a bit longer before it falls apart!
