It'll be thirsty that's for sure. The 1L ecoboost in the fiesta st can be got down below 30mpg with spirited driving. Imagine what a 2.3L version will do hauling over 2 tonnes! I reckon you'll be into V8 fuel economy figures. Also imagine towing 3.5T with it Confused 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

20k according to the article and if it deliveres similar torque figures to the mustang and focus there shouldn't any towing issues

£20k that does shock me. I wonder why the other conversions they do are in the silly money Whistle

Or is that £20k for the conversion? If so then pointless. Buy another car for cruising around in and have change for a nice night at the pub.

(Link wont load on me phone)

Not really sure this is a "small" engine. I mean it's bigger than the last Defenders which were only 2.2. A petrol Turbo is usually going to be as powerful as a Diesel, although the torque is usually better on diesels. Though i dare say it could probably be tuned for Torque rather than outright power.
They always used to be ok with Normally aspirated, 2.25 Rover petrol engines, the Diesel version of the same engine was a slug on the other hand.

I think you can get any car down to less than 30mpg if you thrash it hard enough. I used to have a 2.3 Normally aspirated carburettered Volvo estate, that would easilly do 35mpg on a run. They're not exactly light things.

The £20k price tag is a bit of a joke , like a lot of Defender stuff at the moment, as soon as you put Defender in the title the price doubles.

The thing with the fiesta is that it was marketed as having a combined fuel economy of something like 58 mpg which was practically impossible to achieve. Easily dipping into low figures.

I'm not doubting it would have the power to tow, I was thinking of the fuel economy whilst towing will be pretty poor 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I had a Ford SMax with the 2 litre ecoboost engine. It was all boost and no eco. Had to drive it like a grannie to even get 25mpg. Went like stink though. I soon realised why the dealership were happy to give me top price on my high mileage 5 series estate with a knackered clutch in part ex AND even delivered the car to me on a low loader and took mine away. I kept that one just 3 months and bought my current Defender instead and that gives a pretty consistent 27mpg even if you use all the performance Laughing
