Hi have you sorted the problem out, I have a 2.2 and have had a few problems from new but not with the electric fuel pump, would be interested in what you found out.

Hi,
No time recent months. A new electric pump is on the bench. Now what is best? Lower the tank, or lift the tub? Lowering the tank, makes me afraid to damage the fuel lines. Advice appreciated! |

Cut a hole in the floor, change the pump, put a removable plate over the hole. Some people rivet the plate down and drill out the rivets when they need access, I use rivnuts and bolt it down. That way access to the pump/sender/pipes will never be an issue again. Oddly Land Rover did this for the Discovery and Range Rover but never did it for the Defender which, on a 90 at least, has the hardest tank to drop out. On a 90 you can cut the floor between the bracing bars.
When I cut the hole in mine I managed to feed a sheet of 3mm steel up between the tank and the floor first to prevent any accidents while cutting through. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/ |

I didn't want to cut the floor. Tried to remove the tank, but broke the fuel line outlets in doing so.
