Cheers Si and Tony. Will certainly let your know when we head down there.
Tony, any chance of a PM with a route or two you've sampled? It'll be time to buy some more OS Explorers. I'll PM Discocuzzy too. |

SEB, will sort the two routes I have out, Disco has them on the memory maps so they will be better, but I will put the routes I have on Google maps, they are from my memory but I have done them a couple of times now

What's the drill in respect of ensuring that the Army aren't going to be training when one plans a SP trip? I've heard about the phone numbers on the signposts form checking about live firing but I'd imagine 5 Challengers, a few Bedfords and a string of Wolfs would soon stop progress.
TACK, I've just downloaded the Memory Map free iPhone App. It's excellent and you buy the area you need. I'll see if there is such a free pay-as-you-go programme for my Mac. I see the benefit of this programme. |

(Btw, I am assuming that you don't know the area too well...)
If you do decide to tour the Plains, Hide from the Land Wardens, and be careful about some tracks and Private Land. The Police are having a real crack down in the area and have taken to confiscating vehicles... It seems to be a common occurance in the Wiltshire (Devizes) area, the local farmers are very jumpy about Hare Coursing and contact the police over any vehicles driving up their tracks. It's a wonderful drive off road up there though, just be careful of that unexploded ordinance |

So does anyone fancy a little weekend fun down there? As before, I'm happy to help arrange in any way I can, but as I've not been before I'd need someone with the correct local knowldge/ experience to lead I guess? Simon '11 Defender 110XS Utility SW '07 Discovery 3 HSE '58 Porsche 356A (not good off road) '59 Lambretta (not good on or off road!) |
