As mentioned, I only suspect some form of interference as I know I have no issue with any door sensors. The suspected interference is intermittent in my case. I can drive the same section of road and not see the light activate for weeks then out of the blue in a round about the same spot it will illuminate. This scenario occurs at number of different places and that is why is suspect some form of interference. I could be wrong though. Being a Defender, it might just be messing with my head for fun!

It will be clocking up around 8000 km in the next 3 weeks so it will be interesting to see what happens in different areas.

So since my last post 3 weeks ago I have driven 8000 km up the east cost of Australia and back again. Apart from being a bit noisy, I can't believe how comfortable the box on wheels is to travel in over long distances. Some days were 800 km and you step out of the driver seat feeling fresh. As usual, people happily wandered over to chat to me about my Defender on the trip.

My alarm light flashed just outside a fuel station then after filling up the Defender did not start on the first key turn. It did start the second time. I noticed that when I fist turned the key the alarm light stayed on. The second time when the Defender started, the light extinguished as the key was turned.

I have also experienced the alarm indicator red flash and a little worried forum research has led me to this thread.

My occasional two or three red flashes happen randomly and without apparent cause - although a recent occurrence happened at speed bumps, so that one could have been door latch related.

Should I be worried? ............. this thread suggests not, but don't like things happening without cause.

Annoyingly my key fob rarely works first press, locking or unlocking, it's always been the same, even after a main dealer battery replacement. Is this common or do I have a duff fob? ........... or did I get a duff battery? Fob only seems to work close to the vehicle.

I experienced a second or maybe two seconds of red flashing whilst driving along happily yesterday.

Having read this thread, I'm going to put it down to part of the wonderful mystery of defender ownership and just not worry about it... Smile

I had a solid red light which was occasional and quite distracting at night. Changing the key fob battery fixed it.

First port of call is the forum, all the info you need is here. My indicators stopped flashing, so fob battery needs changing, but in my Audi you can simply swap the battery in the house rather than sit in the drivers seat. Saved me some issues here

do you have to seat in the drivers seat while changing the battery fob? Or I got this totally wrong?
