Personally I agree, I wouldn't bolt a recovery eye there unless I could fit a brace behind that triangulated to both chassis rails. Ray

Completely agree about the recovery loop, although not many options;
No room for jate's, nor a backing plate on the crossmember and I didn't want a 'proper' tow bar/jaw on the NAS step. I don't plan on doing full load snatch recoveries though so happy with the choice as it'll be fit for the purpose I intend. Gwyn Lewis front mud flap relocation working well now the local lanes are a similar state to the fields. Now need to do something on the rear! Click image to enlarge In other news, I decided to give it a mild facelift. After a year with the Noldens I decided there was too much grey on the car and that headlights should be bright rather than dull, so bucking the trend for dark/black headlights I've fitted some JW Speaker EVO2 DRL's in Chrome. Although I was happy with the Noldens I decided I wanted DRL's, but didn't want separate bumper ones, hence went with an integral headlamp. I think the front end now looks fresher and more OEM, which in my opinion is no bad thing. Got them from Mobile Centre, great service so thanks guys. Love this thread. The USW looks fantastic, especially with those wheels. Would love the same on my 110.

Not much to report on the mods side of things, just been using the thing.
Just had a little play with the Go Pro and some nearby watery lanes. Worked well on burst mode, wifi controlled from my phone. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge I'm upto 12.5k now, touch wood no problems to report. 99% of my driving is short distance commuting, so once in a while I treat it to a blast down the motorway. Always feels a lot keener after a bit of a blowout. Hope to do a few more mods once the lighter evenings return... I regularly get the pleasure of seeing SteveR's fantastic USW at work, but for the first time ever they were carpark buddies recently.
Sure Steve won't mind the pic, shame its a rubbish work phone one. Loving the new front end Steve! Haha, great pic Andy!
Couldn't resist parking up next to your lovely grey beastie - that's what us Defender drivers have to do, isn't it?! See you soon, car park buddy! |

Update time and there's good and bad news...
Its with a heavy heart that I've come to the decision to sell the 110. I need to use the funds tied up in it for boring housing related stuff. It'll be a real shame to see it go as it was meant to be a keeper, but priorities rule in this case. I'll put an advert up on here and elsewhere but in the meantime, what's the collectives thoughts on returning it to standard? Although its not exactly heavily modified I'm currently thinking standard will appeal to more buyers and anyway we all enjoy making them exactly how we want. So if I do, keep your eyes peeled for parts going spare. That's obviously the bad news, now for the good news; part of the plan to sell the 110 involves replacing it with a much much cheaper Landy that actually fits in the garage. As such I've acquired an early 'Ninety' that I can fettle with whenever I see fit! I'll do a separate thread on that once I have some news. Oh no, shocked you're selling. Your 110 has been great inspiration to me and really enjoyed your thread!

Now that is bad news. Sad to see this thread coming to an end but will look forward to the next project!
First dibs on the sawtooth alloys if you do decide to sell seperately? |
