The front calipers are the same on both 90 and 110. The only exception to this is if you have solid front discs, rather than vented front discs. The defender 110 (with rover axles) rear brake calipers will fit on the back of a 90, but you'll need the slightly larger diameter 110 rear discs as well. I'm not 100% on this, but I believe the rear calipers from an early type salisbury axle are slightly different to the later type rover axle, and are not interchangable. |

I have solid front discs, that I have changed to grooved and cross drilled. So the next step for me is vented, cross drilled, grooved discs. Thanks for the info Gary Andy |

Bells and rotors are fantastic, alot lighter and much better cooling but can be expensive.

Here's some pics of my brake conversion for the Defender. Extremely powerful, very well balanced, but not that cheap! Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

An easy modification to improve the power of brake is to install the servo brake of Discovery 2, a friend of mine has did this on his 110 td5 used in Africa.

This will give improved braking effect of course, but will also cause the onset of brake fade to occur much more rapidly. |

Gary the fading is the formation of gas, produced by hot pads, which creates a cushion between pad and disc, reducing friction.(I know you know better than me! )
I can not understand where is the relationship with improving the servo brake, considering that I don't use my 110 for race, because the improve is the strength to tighten the pads on the disc. We could obtain the same result with a caliper more powerful, without changing discs and pads...or not?? Matteo Defender 110 Td4 SE MY 09 |

Bigger discs give more surface area, for larger pads to bite onto. The larger the disc diameter, the greater the stopping power. I use the Hi-Spec brakes using the standard (ancient) defender servo, and the pedal feel is superb. The choice of pad material makes a difference to pedal response too. |

how does this affect TC? Surely the TC has been programmed for the OEM brakes? --

ABS/TC just uses special rings, which fit into the hubs. We've fitted our Hi-Spec brakes to defenders with TC. Indeed we have a 2009 Puma 110 XS in the workshop right now, having this very conversion. |

What I'm interested in is how the improved braking power affects TC - does it make TC better/worse/same? -- 2010 Defender Puma 90 + BAS remap + Alive IC + Slickshift + Ashcroft ATB rear 2015 Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged Defender Puma Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zZ1en9 Discovery 4 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zXrtKO Range Rover/Sport L320/L322/L494 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zc58JQ |

Bigger brakes imporve braking performance and pedal feel, and so can prevent the wheels from locking, through better brake control. You won't have to apply so much pedal pressure, like you would with standard brakes.
ABS/TC will work in exactly the same way, but in theory should come in less often as you can feel what the brakes are doing more. |
