A plan want over £800. They said it was because I couldn't go onto one of their specialist policies due to it being my main car. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Did you speak to Thatcham office? Our 110 is wife's main car, with remap etc insured for commute and business for half that. Lots of other factors I appreciate but surprised by your premium. James

I used the Thatcham number off the forum here. Tbh I'm concerned I'm going to have to remove my mods so I can just get a normal policy.

wow... just insured mine with A-Plan, only 1 year no claims bonus, a full side of A4 modifications but limited to 7500 miles and includes driving other cars... fully comp, 300 quid...
it really must be that main car issue... that's sh!t... Speak to Geoffreys, they have a points system for mods. I reckon you will come in under the 4 points limit they have, e.g. crystal headlights and led indicators I think are 0 points, the snorkel might be 1 or 2 points... worth a call i reckon. I didn't go with Geoffreys because the windows I added to my hardtop blew all the points in one go.... go figure! Stig |

Mine's with Adrian Flux, main car, SD&P plus commuting, no mileage limit as such but based on 20k pa, comp, full NCD, mods inc RAI, winch, Blindos, rack etc, and IIRC it's around £300.

I'm with Privilege, raised air intake and roof rack plus business use and all insured as my main car. I was going to get a remap and that would have added £25 to the premium .Haven't got round to it yet but no issues doing it. HR064 Hampshire and Berkshire 4x4 Response

Ok, life's too short to spend this amount of time on the phone. Gone with flux at £450 which is not much more than I was paying with no mods. Apparently having an OL postcode is akin to living in done town Mogadishu. I may have been able to get it cheaper, but the whole experience is just too painful. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I just had a shock today from Flux, over £1k the young lad said and couldn't even give me a reason. 110 TD5, 5K miles, unmodified, second car SD&L only. My old 90 was just over 200 with them a few years ago, can only think postcode as its a new build now living at. Compare the meercat was giving better but had even looked at who was giving quotes, back on the phone tomorrow
