Thanks for the input guys.

I think I am going to go down the wood route for a number of reasons - it is quicker and easier and I can do it pretty much myself. It will probably work out cheaper and most importantly SWMBO thinks a wooden 'shed' will be softer on the eye and not be as harsh as a big brick building ( and to be fair she probably has a point)

Security wise - if the little wotsits want to get in they will get in - cutting a hole in the wall probably wont help them - if the last garage was anything to go by you wont be able to see the walls for 'stuff'!! Anyway, I will probably just link it to the alarm and stick a cctv camera in it anyway.

Planning and building warrant shouldn't be a problem either.

Just need to price up the options and see.

If security is a real concern (which sounds like it probably isn't) you can also consider incorporating security mesh into the timber framing. Will add to the cost, but makes the task of cutting through a timber wall a fair bit more challenging. 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green
