Any Gas Engineers that can help me?
Hi
I've had 3 so called boiler experts out so far and none of them know bog all. Just wondering if anyone here can help. It's a Vokera Linea 24 boiler and I'm getting a fault code 78. Anybody know what this is and how to fix it please?

Vokera fault code 78 is for differential temperature difference between flow and return pipes.

That is not from me being a gas engineer but a quick google of fault codes.

Sounds like you need the flow and return being balanced.

We have several Vokera boilers installed and our plumber services them annually.

Your best option if your local plumbers can not fix it is to phone Vokera service line and get one of their engineers to service/repair it. Whilst he is there have a good chat with him and see if you can get his mobile number. Vokera service charges are not cheap but at least the engineer should be fully trained on Vokera boilers.

Does the boiler fire at all?
Does it lock out and show the code after a period of time?
Will it fire after a reset?

If it comes up with code straight away before firing then it's likely to be one of the temperature sensors is faulty, if it locks out after running for while then it points to problem with your heating circuit, have you got most of your rads turned off? The temp differential between flow and return should be about 30deg. There will be a minimum temp differential under which the boiler decide there is a fault. This can sometimes happen if your system is blocked or your pump is not circulating properly.
How old is the system?
How clean is the system? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.

As Brendan says, you might be better calling out Vokera themselves.
If you've had 3 numpties out then you need to stop paying call out fees for knobs!

Vokera used to do an all in service charge that included any parts required, it used to be £99 but that was a while ago!!

First thing to check would be the pump if it's not working it'll should log a fault with overheating etc and it's possible it thinks that failing that it might be the flow or return thermistor giving the pcb a wrong reading and locking out

if the pumps had it, it will bang and crash as the water will start boiling, most engineers carry stats on them which they can wrap around the flow and return at the top of the boiler, this will tell them if the flow and return temps are within tolerance, if not then change the flow/return thermistors, if ok as has been said a flow problem, so you could have a restriction somewhere ion the system, could also be the heat exchanger, did you get a "kittling" noise when it was on before, this also is a sign of the restriction
