I thought this way until I decided to have a go, a member on here said something along the lines of 'it's just nuts and bolts' and if you're mechanically minded and sensible you'll be ok.

1.5 years later and they're holding up just fine (caliper rebuild, brake and rotor swap)

If you do it yourself you at least know what products were used and how. If it's off at the mechanics who knows what the apprentice is up to, apparently not even the shop manager in this case (or did he? Mad )

Perhaps give it a go and if it goes south or you're otherwise doubtful you can then get it done at a shop (tow to shop etc.) ? Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

Personally I work on them myself, but then book the car in with Kwikfit, Halfords Autocentres etc for a free brake check. That way you have a print out confirming they've been checked by someone and there is nothing wrong with them should there be an issue. Wink

As an aside i was actually quite surprised Kwikfit didn't do the hardsell on everything like they used to.
