Developing?! I'd say that's already developed. Idealy it's going to want cutting out and having a new bit welded in. |

Really you needed to stop it before it got to that stage as welding the door area is a skilled job, i'd take it to a good specialist since it looks like the rust has bitten into the anchoring point for the hinge. 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW

agreed, once you start cutting out the rot you'll find a much much bigger hole.
What is the other side like? Chances are it's starting to go too, but might be early enough to save it yourself. |

replace with a galv bulkhead..... if you have that level of rot there, it will likely be riddled! Check your foot wells etc.
Any repair you do will be temporary. |

Cheers all
Yes to be honest it was a bt of a shock when I peeled back the door seal, and has completely caught me in the hop. This has taught me to keep more of an eye out in future. The other side appears to be free of corrosion and I've had a good look around foot wells etc which are also ok (on the face of it) so just hoping that that problem is isolated to this area. Anyhow, will be taking it to a well respected body shop tomorrow to get it looked at. Will report back on the verdict. |
