Defender 90 Running Board Removal....?
I'll be trying to remove these in the morning ahead of fitting Bowler Sills. Is this a straightforward job? Anything I should be aware of?

Cheers. 110 DCPU

Depending on the year and condition, there are a few small nuts n bolts that usually snap off, but don't cause any dramas,

Done a few, but can't think of any issues tbh

Enjoy Thumbs Up

Mark,

It is easy to sort.

I removed mine after having the Bowler sills fitted. Took a little longer because the underside had been protected by Zagato, so there was a layer of wax on the bolts but it was a relatively painless job. I seem to recall one of the bolts being a little fiddly but nothing too onerous.

Great, thanks.

Looks like you're regretting selling yours too? I'll do my best to keep this one!

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but as a man with a McLaren, you'll know that the car bug/addiction means that sometimes you talk yourself in and out of cars, only to realise that it wasn't the Nirvana you expected Mr. Green

I sold my 90 because I had a change around and it didn't make a lot of sense. I came out without loosing money, so it wasn't an issue; however, scroll forward two years later and I'd really like something utilitarian for the weekends. I've consider Volvo X70s, Subaru Foresters and Outbacks and a few other tangents but really a Defender makes the most 'sense'. Not matter how you skin it, all the other vehicles have 'nice' interiors that don't do well with mud, dirt and wet dogs.

It is a nice to have, not a have to have, so I'm not fussed if I have to bide my time and, in typical car guy fashion, the hunt is a big part of the fun. Thumbs Up

Actually just advertised the McLaren and on a bit of a time crunch which is never a good thing when selling a car like this and worst of all it wasn't really planned!

I expressed an interest in the BMW M2 about 16 months ago and had pretty much forgotten all about it until a couple of weeks ago when my dealer called and said my car slot had come through for end of May deliver and could I please spec it!!!

Not a replacement for the McLaren but it's something I want to try and to create garage space I need to sell the Defender or the McLaren. As much as I love the McLaren I don't want to get rid of the Defender. 110 DCPU

I've driven a 650S and it is a weapon - one of the few cars I've driven that felt faster than my (now sold) 991 Turbo S. There is a lot to like about them and visiting the factory only reinforces that.

However, more and more I question the relevance of cars that really only come 'alive' at very fast speeds. Unless you're doing a lot of track days, I find cars that you can enjoy at road legal speeds a lot more fun. For instance, the E30 M3, classic 911s, the new M2, Lotus Exige and Elise all feel fun and you don't need to be driving them at 9/10ths.

Perhaps I'm just getting old Rolling Eyes Mr. Green

I took a 991 Turbo S out on a Porsche Experience day at Silverstone last year. I couldn't imagine a quicker point to point road car - until I drove the 650S. It's crazily quick.

I agree with your assessment but then it probably won't stop me wanting something so stupidly quick again Rolling Eyes

I am looking forward to the M2. More usable performance and it's also nice not to have so much cash tied up in a car - even better I get 15% off BMW Mr. Green 110 DCPU
