Mpg, speed and handling wouldn't be in my vocabulary when thinking about running a Series to work.
It'd be gloves, sunglasses and a pen...to sign autographs....cause you'd be a  rockstar!!!!!

I used to run one every day whilst at university and then back home from Shropshire to Yorkshire most weekends.
I loved it and it's the one car I actually regret selling. Keep it well maintained and it'll be great. You will feel the cold, demisting is not a lot of fun but it used to bring a smile to my face every time I jumped in it. I had one of the later 5 bearing 2.25 diesels and it was great. I'll have another one at some point to sit alongside the 2.2 110. If it doesn't suit you then it will still be worth its money and you can either keep it as a weekend toy or sell it 
on. |

Fuel will be the biggest cost. I don't think that there will be a big difference between any series with either a 2 1/4 petrol or diesel. In my experience it depends on the length of the journey, as they take a while to warm up properly and how much stop-start versus cruising along there is.
Once up and running, you can bomb along quite nicely in a series. I don't really go much slower than in my Defender, apart from not having higher gears. Unsurprisingly the driving experience is not that different just the non assisted steering and non servo brakes which make you drive a bit more cautiously. |

No sadly not. I have tried to locate my old one as I would buy it back in a heartbeat in whatever state it is in as it has been sorned since I sold it. 
Really don't know where to get a fairly priced one. All depends what you want I suppose. Buying from a private seller usually gets you the lower prices but i always try and take someone who is impartial to the purchase who can look with their head rather than their heart and see the bad bits |

Yes I understand the cost that is involved in fuel, but it's worth that! ? The whole driving experience ,and heritage, is what the series are all about!!!
To be honest there are little around that would suit my fussy requirements! Having said that I have got to wait a year until I get my drivers licence so plenty of time to search around. Just please keep the prices down!! |

Summers day driving to work, or just a potter in the lanes. How cool does this look
