Never tried the Tilley hat but I've had a Barmah kangaroo skin (squashy) hat for years; it has remained waterproof and flexible with zero maintenance, it's light and matches my crocodile teeth necklace a treat... I started with nothing and still have most of it left!

I have the baseball type of cap with large peak and the fold up neck protector . I have had it for years never been able to find another one. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.

..and they can be passed through an elephant twice without ill effect. That feature is quite useful to me here in Suffolk.
They are good hats, use mine for kayaking.

+1 for barmah squashy hats. Had mine for 15 years and it's great at keeping the sun off and your head cool. Also it kept my head dry when I got caught up the freak tornado that hit the Billing Land Rover Show a few years back.

I bought it in France after having a far too severe a hair cut and ending up with a sun burnt head Neutral Fixing Land Rovers for over 25 years..........and making excuses to the wife for almost as long Smile

Rogue hats from South Africa. Picked on up on a trip there 12 years ago and used ever since. Suspect the Tilleys are better but I like the shape of this canvas one. 1995 Defender 110 CSW

+1 for TILLEY... bought one 15 years ago to keep the sun off whilst in Africa for 3 weeks.

Great kit - always happy to pay extra £ for this type of quality Thumbs Up Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

I love mine. Also an essential item if you're into photography. They keep the rain off, protect you from UV and you can bend the brim up to put a camera to your eye. Smile

Let's be honest, they’re no better than any other hat but they have become de rigeur for the macho image (bit like Defenders, really).

Go Outdoors have them on offer from time to time and I paid forty-six quid for mine.

Another +1 for Barmah used one a couple of trips to Australia- excellent.

I'm a fan of the Akubra hats from Oz as well, I have a Cattleman in fawn. Keeps the sun off very well as you'd expect and seems to cope ok with the British liquid form of sunshine we occasionally see... Whistle
