Noticed this today.
Would this effect performance? I assume a simple replacement is all that is needed? Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge I am currently experiencing los of power, the guts just don't seam to be there and it feels like it's stuttering on power. I therefore would like someone who knows how these things work, ideally not LR or a simple Indy, but someone whom can give it a proper health check from an engine functioning on all cylinders perspective. Is this something like BAS and Alive do. What would people's recommendations be? |

I think that is the air con condenser, so shouldn't effect anything other than the ac efficiency. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

yes that's the AC condenser. I wonder if perhaps if it's not cooling the gas properly it makes the compressor work harder - that may have a small effect on engine performance.

Load does effect performance and fuel consumption, much like the Alternator. Play Stupid Games, Win Stupid Prizes.

Mine looks worse than that - the coils are held together with cable ties where the aluminium corrugation has fallen out to stop it bouncing around too much. It still holds gas though - just had it serviced, leak tested and charged.
Completely agreed that load affects power output / fuel consumption but that level of load on an engine of this size (as opposed to a 1 litre hire car, 4 up with the A/C full blast in 30 plus degrees) is tiny in comparison. I would look elsewhere for your power loss, particularly if it is still present with A/C off, as JST suggests. As an aside, condensers seem to be around £500 - has anyone found anything more cost effective? |

They seem to be about £370 for an OEM one. (Genuine appear to be about £700 full retail. ) Part number LR025985 it comes with the fan included. |

Mines doing the same.
They appear to be made of chocolate...... I agree with the points on power loss, don't look at your ac for your answer. No do i leave the condenser as is and risk a holiday to the alps in a car with failed ac or do i replace the condenser....mmmm. Cheers Andy |

It's only a few cooling fins. The worst is no ac which is not the end of the world. I would concentrate on power issue for the alps trip. Cheers
