I currently have a hard top with no windows/sun roof.

Considering installing alpine windows. Can anyone who has done the upgrade comment as to whether it was worth it? Or should I just leave the roof as is?

Have read on here that the cutout in the roof has a certain shape or a lip or something to help it seal better and that it's not just as easy as cutting an oval hole and popping in a window and seal - well not if you want it to be weather tight anyway. Try a search on her for the info.

I'm not sure it's an easy job. I well remember taking the Alpine windows out of my Series 1 SW so I could properly paint the roof; it was a heck of a job getting them back in.

Yea, I'm having a tough time deciding.

I think that the Alpine Windows add so much to the aesthetics, but the difficulty of installation and the significant cost for parts are definitely putting me off.

I fitted some to an old hard top I had years back.

Wasn't hard, just traced outside of a piece of the glass. Think i went about 5mm around the edge bigger (if anything my holes were too small as the rubber did try to pop out a bit)

Used the proper rubber fitting tool and all went well.
