Hi everyone,
Just noticed a oil drop on the floor and found oil was leaking from somewhere cv joint/ swivel seal area in the near side of the car. What could be the problem here? Should it need an urgent repair? (picture attached) Thank you everyone. https://www.defender2.net/gallery/albums/u...084219.jpg |

Could be the swivel seal assuming the swivels are not pitted or worn, Is the fluid quite thick? Jeff

This may help:
![]() What is interesting to me is that the oil has worked its way around the swivel/axle flanges to the diff side. I'm not sure if they can fail as seals do but what about the axle/swivel gasket? Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants... |

N 17 impeeds the migration of one-shot grease towards the flange. On agentmulderīs diagram is N23. What you need to check is N8 on the latter. So at the end you better replace all seals at once and to be honest none of these seals are very tight. Puma 110" SW

Probably that one would do the job, but I would choose OEM quality seals (eg. Corteco) Puma 110" SW

I would have a look first at the connection between the axle housing and the swivel bowl. Clean it and degrease it and see again. Your swivel seal is leaking too. Roel

Update : My mechanic checked it and confirmed that the bolts were too loose (pic attached) so the oil was leaking between the housing. No idea how it became loose though. Tight all the bolts and now no more oil leak!
Thanks for suggestions by everyone. https://www.defender2.net/gallery/albums/u...085110.jpg |
