Spare wheel mounted to back door hits panel when opened...
Hi everyone,

I noticed the other day whilst fitting a stainless bolt kit on my back door that when fully opened the spare wheel hits the body panel. It would seem that the stopper doesn't work/has broken or i just didn't notice it before.

Is there and easy fix for this such as an adjustment or replacement part?

Thanks

Hugh

If you look at the bottom left hand corner of the above photo you will see two nuts. These come loose and need to be tightened periodically. Remove the close bar from the door and pull the trim off to gain access.

If you look carefully it's amazing how many newish Defenders have a dent in the offside panel for that very reason! Fortunately with the offset of my wheels this problem is no longer an issue as the wheel sits further away from the rear door! I can also now clean behind easily too! Went to tighten the two nuts this evening but have found that someone has "attempted" before and the threads were so mashed that i struggled to get the nuts off!

Anyway, i've tried to search for replacement part but not sure what i should be searching for, any ideas (it;s the little metal plate with the two threaded stubs coming out of it).

Thanks

Hugh

Also the Nakatanega gas strut door stay is now available in the UK!

Have a look HERE

It will finally get on our website when my IT guru has time from her other duties.
