I'm visiting next week for work, and wondered if any forum members had any must-sees in the area? I'm driving down from St Malo on Monday and likely to have some free time that day, maybe some evenings too. Back on a ferry Thursday evening so not long there!

You have lots of good things in the centre. You will see good county vista and local food.
Remember that to drive off road is not allowed, you must usually stay on the tracks. Asking a local is best. Farmers will help you for sure if not then camping site chiefs. Or in advance try to contact with the fédération des 4x4 http://www.ff4x4.fr/ Possible they have the cards of routes for you. Many routes are bad in Auvergne, careful of damage and become stuck on your sortie. Léo |

Thank you.
I thought I'd found something with potential on Wikiloc but on closer inspection it seems to be entirely on road. Unrelated to Land Rovers the Puy de Dôme sounds interesting. Generally I try and keep off unsuitable or badly condition routes (and always stick to the track) - although I did manage to get myself accidentally stuck on a greenlane in England earlier this month I try and avoid going places that's likely to happen. |
