Anybody interested in a set of gearstick Collars similar to the adventure Style.
Made out of ABS plastic printed on my 3d printer. I have yellow, red, black or coffee colours. Can also be painted easily with little prep. £10 incls postage within UK. The Parts are pushed together in the photos, but can be secured with a dab of modelling glue, any glue for model airplane kits will do, as long as its for glueing Styrene (the plastic used). Have been thinking about making some of these.
They look a little too deep, any chance of altering the file to make them a tiny bit narrower in girth to the main shafts? Too much innuendo in that by far. |

Hi,
They are sized to fill the channel, if i were to alter the height then they will slop about. If you mean the overall width, then i could do a special set for you after i have finished the present run. Are you looking for it to be flush with the side of the knob - oh ere missus Cheers Andy |

I'm still prototyping the red one, just tweaked the model and will test, absolutely last tweak - i hope. LOL, this is proving to be ridiculously popular on FB, i was unprepared by how much interest there would be!!! Cheers Andy |

Apologies on jumping in here. I can't quite see in the pics, but if you don't like the texture of the prints (might be a bit rough and or meshy and liney) you could pop them in an acetone bath. Simple to do with a tupperware box and some kitchen town. The results are quite impressive. Just google '3d print acetone bath'.

Wow, i have been completely blown away with the popularity of these!!!!!
I have the printer beavering away all last night and all day today, so far I have enough transfer box collars to supply 38 sets, I'll start on the gearbox collars later tonight and print out another 38 or so. then I'll be ready to take some orders properly... I note the points above regarding an acetone bath etc, I will leave that to the individuals, for me I like them as they are, straight off the printer. when you introduce acetone bathes etc, it can be a bit fiddly to time it so they layers smooth out. I've printed these in the highest resolution I have available, which is 0.09mm layer height, so yes, layers are there, but they are hardly visible, much finer layers than the ones you have shown in your picture above (owl on the right, before the bath). I have sized these to fit on my sticks, the sticks are a hard moulding so should be good for the range of sticks out in the wild, its a snug fit on mine, so plenty of scope to open out with a Dremel on the inside to get perfection if for some reason it was too tight!!!! I'll offer a range of colours next week (or next month). I wonder how long it will take before my idea is cloned and more sets appear on eBay or FB........ Any suggestions on control of sales, I was thinking of listing on eBay so I could control stock levels and default via paypal etc, what do you reckon??? I take the hit on costs, so little impact to the buyers but makes my life a bit easier??? Cheers Andy |
