Removing coolant hose from fuel cooler
Service and coolant change on my puma tomorrow. Looking at the service manual it all seems simple enough, but oh how I've been scorned thinking that before.... So the removing the coolant hose from the fuel cooler, is it a simple clip & pull job or is there a special technique?

I did mine last year, just push the button in and pull it off, easy. If it's plastered in mud you might have to clean it to stop the dirt from jaming the button but thats about all.

You are also supposed to take a hose of the oil cooler (top of filter housing) but it's nearly impossible to get at to get the clip off, so i didn't bother. I still got the right amount of fluid out and it bled fine so no issue.

I just couldn't get it to drain without removing that oil cooler pipe. And yes, it is a total pain to get it off. I bought a proper hose clamp tool in the end which helped a lot. I also had great difficulty in getting the system to bleed fterwards. I had to drive it for a while as it wouldn't get hot enough sat still, even raising the revs as per the manual. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Taking the rad cap off and opening the bleed nipple near the heater helps it run out quite nicely.

You can unclip the fuel cooler lines from the chassis and lower them down to ground level, it poured out of mine.

Done today along with gearbox oil, engine oil and filter change, fuel filter change. All went fine.

Had some small mole grips that gripped the clip holding the hose onto the oil cooler perfectly so that wasn't an issue. Once I'd cleaned the waxoyl off the fuel cooler, just pressed the blue tab in and pulled the hoses off - easy enough too.

Cool down fuel return to the fuel tank ( with common fuel rail diesel engine heat is transfer to fuel )

Chaps - about to change my coolant for the first time (10 years old). Wondering if it's worth having a stainless jubilee clip for the oil cooler hose? Would that help in future? Any ideas of the size to order? I'll have a look under today and see what I can work out before starting the job (just about to order the coolant and some other bits to have a day working on the Defender next week). All help appreciated Smile Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)
