Straight through will be fairly noisy but getting rid of the mid box keeps the noise to a sensible level. I'd imagine there's only 5 hp to gain from an exhaust on a lumpy diesel truck. Stainless is must though. I think de cat pipes let the engine breath a bit better but depends how strict your MOT tester is. 2009 2.4TDCi XS Utility Wagon.

Go for a genuine or Bosal exhaust system.
Can probably replace the whole system for under £150 delivered compared to the cost of a Stainless setup. I have done my downpipe at the front once shortly after I bought it due to it having a hole in it and my rear box 3 times in the 6 years I have owned my truck and still spent less than the cost a stainless system. Yep, I was talking about the silencers
Which companies manufacture a system without the mid box?
3 times in 6 years is pretty bad? |

My 300 tdi, has a mild steel down pipe, straight through centre ie in stainless, no one seems to make them in mild steel, a d a cheap as chips rear section. Replaced approx every 26 months, only cost about £25 each. Seems to work for me, a stainless tail pipe is a lot of money .

Where did you get the stainless center section from?

Its the rear section that suffers most, the 3 I have replaced comes to £60 over 6 years and a grand total of 2 hours.
Given the cost of stainless system I'd say my time and money have been well spent Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter ![]() |
