I think Landrover should concentrate on making their vehicles work properly and not rot away within a couple of years rather than thinking about producing plastic stick on tat to put Khan out of business. Ray

McGovern to out-Kahn Kahn, by the sound of it.
Landrover moves even further away from its roots. Time was when SVO put the cherry-pickers on Defenders, I expect SVO will now be putting the cherry-pink leather "boudoir" interiors in New Defenders. |

That’s a bit dictatorial of Gerry McGovern and JLR. I was under the impression that we have a right of choice. Deliberately going in pursuit of aftermarket modifiers with the sole aim of putting them out of business is both arrogant and smacks of being tyrannical.
Gerry McGovern as my old dad used to say ‘is getting much too big for his own boots and needs knocking down a peg’ For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at.. http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |

Surely as soon as that vehicle is purchased it is no longer JLR's property ?

If you read the article, JLR are not aiming to put them out of business, just produce a better product so there is no need to use a third party company.
So on my TD5, if JLR could do a tune better than Alive/BAS or the same tune but cheaper, I would use them If not its horse for courses |

To my mind this outburst from jlr is essentially an admission that their premium luxury products could actually be better across the board, which is a fairly damaging thing to say about your own products, shades of Gerald Ratner? Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

Are the Land Rover / Range Rover not still only tuned to a base level allowing the engines to run on a wide spectrum of fuel quality much like other car manufacturers? So I would say they are now saying they can re-map them to better suit the quality of fuel in your country or just offer you an engine more tuned to your needs for example an altered torque curve if you do a lot of towing. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html
