hanks Double Cab
Starting this off while I think of it,

Having always wanted a Defender I finally bit the bullet and bought my first one in September 2016; a 2007 2.4 110 DCPU XS in Stornoway Grey

Try Photobucket, one of the easier hosting sites to use.

hanks 110 XS Double Cab Progress - BAS Remap Action!!
First post now edited so photos work! Couldn't get dropbox or google drive to display pics so have resorted to photobucket.

I haven't had a project vehicle for a while as house purchases put a stop to them but looking forward to it

My last project was a 106 Rallye (link to the build should anyone be interested http://www.106rallyeforum.com/forum2008/sh...p;t=44560)

In 2015 I got my bike license and an R6 but 2016 house move forced sale. I'm a keen DIY'er/home improver so wanted something practical with a bit of room. The new house also has a log burner plus 2016 brought a dog so I figured it was an ideal opportunity to buy a Defender (and a trailer)

Yes mate. I hope you've got them all sorted now. I would have been tamping too.

I've had the defender for six or seven months and have done a couple of little bits

- Canvas cover and sticks removed
- A-bar and spotlights removed. Wiring retained for future light bar
- Rear light grilles removed
- Front bumper end caps added
- Front snow cowl added
- Fuel leak sorted - replaced weapy fuel rail pressure sensor for new OE Ford unit
- Faulty brake lights sorted - replaced damaged brake switch for new OE LR unit
- Off side rear door snapped hinge pin sorted - replaced hinge for new OR LR unit painted Stornoway

A previous owner had relocated the original tailgate hinges so that the tailgate opened to the side

I have reverted back to standard hinging so that the tailgate swings down onto the cable stays. Unfortunately, this left redundant drilled holes in the aluminium bodywork so I had them welded up. Also had the drilled holes from the removed rear light grilles welded up at the same time.

Recently the steering became a bit woolly. I thought the steering box might need adjustment but when I looked it turned out to be the drop arm ball joint. The circlip, bottom plate, spring and bottom cup were completely missing so this evening I stripped out all the old and replaced with an OE LR ball joint kit. Really easy job, took about an hour. Couldn't get the 'mastic gun' trick to work so used a jack and socket to get the bottom plate/circlip in (http://www.reedx.net/landrover/maint/draglinkbj)

I recently got hold of some 16x9 Matt Lee Mach 5's which are currently away for blasting/powder coating in satin black.

Got some 285/75/16 BFG Mud Terrain KM2's to go on the Mach 5's. Wheels and tyres being fitted when back from the powder coaters.

As mentioned in a previous post, the canvas hood has rubbed through the paintwork around the the rim of the pickup bed and cab gutter - right through to the bare metal in some places so next job is to get this treated and painted. Thinking about a spray applied bed liner too.

Plenty of other plans, will update accordingly

Collected my Mach 5's from the powder coaters so had wheels/tyres fitted on Saturday. Love it! For info wheels are 16x9 Mach 5's, tyres are 285/75/16 BFG MT KM2

Freshly coated wheel
