It's probably always going to be cheaper in terms of time to buy one that's already been done. But it depends what sort of price you put on your time.

To turn a 110 HT into a 130 SC or DC you will need a lot of extra parts - everything from the doors back will need sourcing. If you started with a 110DC it would be much easier, at least if you want end up with a 130DC. It would probably cost a packet.
