I saw it and wondered....

Would need 100% reliable and traceable receipts for the body and chassis, but on a 2nd hand chassis does that not make it a Q plate?

I was tempted last time this was one....
Ickle, as you say surely should be a 'Q" plate, unless DVLA not been informed.
It has a current MOT. Its LEZ compliant....

Should be impossible that its on a TDCI chassis...but on "N" plate
Bulkhead/panels can be bought secondhand...

looking at it again makes me even more suspicious, TDCI axles, body and chassis would surely exceed the points required to keep the original reg DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

Indeed, doesn't make 8 points.

Whats the feeling son the chassis? Surely should have a vin number stamped on it? If its not visible, i assume it has an issue?
If TDCI chassis, has it got to run TDCI axles?
Is retrofitting the 300tdi engine box straightforward?same mounting points etc?

Q plate from DVLA?
Wonder how its passed MOT? Recall seeing thread whereby MOT tester lies to see chassis number/VIN on chassis, not just on
logbook or previous MOT certificate?

It could be a new unregistered chassis - unlikely though, much more likely to be a second hand unit from a stolen recovered....Hence my thoughts about traceable receipts.

Body counts for nothing, axles, steering and suspension are so similar as to be interchangeable, so should be OK, I think the engine mounts are different, but that's just a bit of weld.

The correct way would be the original chassis number cut out of the old chassis & proof of its scrappage, then this plate, riveted or screwed over the tdci number, have the paper trail and all should be well, still not sure about the original number though.

A few years ago, it wouldn't have raised an eyebrow, things are different now.

Keep a vehicle’s original registration number
A rebuilt vehicle can keep its original registration number if you can prove you’ve used:

the original unmodified chassis or bodyshell (car or light van)
a new chassis or monocoque bodyshell of the same specification as the original (car or light van)
the original unmodified frame (motorbike)
a new frame of the same specification as the original (motorbike)
You must also have 2 other major components from the original vehicle from the following lists.

For cars or light vans:

suspension (front and back)
steering assembly
axles (both)
transmission
engine DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

Don't like to cast any aspersions...
TDCI chassis, axles, bulkhead and dash, and then one would then put in a 200k mile 300tdi engine/box?
I the consensus then that no one here has a barge pole long enough to lend me Wink

I always thought it was an absolute no-no to put a newer chassis (used one that is ) on an older vehicle ? A bit like car number plates...Would surely have to be on a Q plate ,presuming its all been declared of course Whistle

No way it can meet the criteria then. Engine and transmission is all good.
The body has no markings on it, however some panels can be changed, so potentially body could be ok?
The fall down would be chassis.
A TDCI chassis is different from a TD5/300/200TDi ??

Looks like the only bits that could be from the original vehicle are the engine, gearbox, dash gauges, and service book. Even that's not proven. A complete Puma minus it's engine and gearbox would be another way of looking at it.

What does happen to all those stolen Defenders?
