Diff change
My 07 90 had the infamous 2pin Diff, which has always had a bad press on this forum, so I have always been wary of its longevity. I dropped the oil out of it about 6 months ago to find some fine metallic swarf in the oil.
Replaced the oil and did about a thousand miles and dropped it again to find the same again. Decided it was time to have a look at what was going on. Found that the roll pin that holds it all together had sheared off allowing movement onththe cross shafts. This is where the wear was coming from.

I couldn't believe how lightweight everything is compared to the old series Diff, so decided to make it a bit stronger with one of these,

Well impressed with a great piece of kit, I know it has been covered a lot on here before, but it is a good modification. I find that it has also removed quite a lot of transmission slap.
Excellent mod.

Cheers Nick

Hi mate, I've got the original diffs from 1986 in my 90, so far as I know!

Did you but the diff from Ashcroft and install it yourself?

Cheers Thumbs Up

Purchased the diff straight from ashcrofts,( excellent to deal with ,quick delivery) but I got a local guy to fit it . He does a lot of our farm repairs and also knows his way around land rovers .
If I had done it myself I would have had to have done it with jacks , etc , were he has a lift and excellent workshop.
Have since used it in anger especially with it being so wet , and great improvement in level of grip and don't need such a heavy foot to keep moving.

Thanks Nick, from what I've seen they're really decent.
