Loud buzzing from front lights.
I've just parked up and with the engine off but the side lights on there is a loud buzzing coming from the passenger side. The side lights and headlights are working, but the noise is concerning. What could be causing this and how should I fix it?

Thanks in advance.

There's not much in that corner other than lights, horn and BBUS (if fitted), washer bottle. Oh, and the headlight adjust motor . Check your headlight level switch on the dash is at '0' - maybe the adjust motor is running? 2020 110 D200 Base - Pangea with satin paint protection

It's definitely the side lights buzzing without the key in the ignition, if they've been on for any length of time. No buzzing first thing in the morning. Maybe waters getting in and causing a short circuit.

Have you checked for for bee's or wasp nests?

Does the buzzing stop with all lights off?

Looking online, other vehicles have had a problem with the headlight adjustor motor so I'll investigate that further. It seems very like the clicking/buzzing noise others have described.

Adjustor motor it is. No buzzing when the light beam is set at position 2 or 3. I'll see what Landrover say tomorrow.

Yes. It's the adjustor motor. Try each setting on the dash, you might lose the buzzing/clicking; if not you might need the actual motor replaced. Have you changed or removed the headlights at all?

Thanks. It was the motor. I took the headlight out and fiddled with the motor and it stopped buzzing.

I put the headlight back in and it's now fine.

The car has been away for two days having a full closure alarm and immobiliser system fitted so I wonder if they took the headlights out.

Thanks for your help Smile My 90 Project : http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic52774.html

Maybe worth put the truck in front of a wall or so, and see if both motors really do their job, meaning lowering and raising the lights step by step same level left and right. I had some problems with one headlight motor too, had it replaced several times, but it never worked properly. In the end it appeared that the real problem was with a cheap plastic piece to which the little motor connects, which was broken. This part is STC4029. More details in below thread.
