Driver Door Lock Barrel Warranty?
As my 2015 defender doesn't have any of this fancy shmancy remote central locking, I'm forever locking/unlocking the driver's door with the key. It seems to be wearing quite a bit to the point it now require a fair bit of pressure to get it in properly and is quite notchy, requiring a bit of wiggling to get it in right (passenger door/rear door, key slides in and out no problem).

As it's less than 2 years old, is this covered on warranty?

Cheers

Try a squirt of dry graphite lock lubricating powder... Don't use WD40 or any wet oils...
ebay item : eBay Item No. 322416759235 or similar should do the trick... ... ,-------,

If it fails it should be covered by the factory 3 years warranty. No reason why it would not be.

These locks are not high quality items - they tend to freeze up in winter, the protective 'flap' that is supposed to stop dirt getting in when you remove the key seizes easily. As the OP has found - the smooth and reliable operation of a key gliding in and out of a lock is a sensation that Land Rover's procurement specialists dismissed as unnecessary.

If you get a lock (or locks) replaced under warranty - you may end up with several different keys! I'll second the views of 'Shax' - but be aware you might end up with dirty pockets (from the graphite on the keys) for a few weeks after you apply it to the locks.

Yet another 'feature' of Land Rover ownership - you pay top dollar for a vehicle that is assembled using some of the cheapest parts available from a global parts bin.

Hi,

I have the same problem with my 2013 90 hardtop
Dry graphite is an effective and cheap fix.

I had to go full hooligan on mine today to remove the passenger side lock and door due to the fact the lock had seized, surely there is a 3rd party company which better quality locks for the defender?

Well stealers loosened mine up when they were robbing me of £800 and a wiper blade. Saved me getting my hands covered in lube. https://instagram.com/bentheoandrews
