I just bought one of them kit's from another forum member, I plan on fitting it this week, I've tested it with power and it looks pretty good and appears to be a doddle to fit, I can't comment on other kits but this one looks very good and they are an American make (Bierley) and makes a nice change reading well written instructions as opposed to the pigeon english more commonly found with all chinese electronics Optimists say the glass is half full..
Pessimists say the glass is half empty.. Engineers say the glass is twice the size it needs to be! Last edited by taffrican on 27th Feb 2017 12:56pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Have a look at Walkers Components- they had a VERY similar reversing camera on their stand at Donington.
I emailed him the other day about it. It is not showing on his website yet but it was either £48 or £58 which seemed like very good value. Picture was really good & I think it doesn't need a front to back cable. Sorry to be a bit vague about it but I haven't got access to his email that he sent me to hand Guy May your life be like toilet paper ; long & useful. |

OK,
So I bought a camera and Mirror / monitor kit from the bay:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181996145657 Click image to enlarge Fitted the camera to the underside of the number plate light but didn't like the view it gave. So I then bought:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/232008344353?_tr...EBIDX%3AIT Click image to enlarge This fitted nicely to the rear washer jet. Click image to enlarge The new camera feed is drilled thru the body behind the jet wash nozzle and is protected from the elements. the monitor needs power and neutral from the permanent live feeding the internal light. and the camera live is taken by feeding the cables thru the grommet in the tub floor (behind the speaker pod in front of the reversing light) and splicing in to the reversing light live and neutral. This then turns on the camera and monitor when reverse is selected. These cameras have "tiny" connectors so will feed thru a 10mm grommet with ease. Both the mirror and picture quality are great and the new mirror gives a much greater field of view than the factory one. Click image to enlarge and the finished install looks quite " Factory" Click image to enlarge Cheap as chips to do and easy enough for an SFF like me to install. Hope this helps. ^ Neat
How have you fitted the camera to the washer jet and got the cable through? What is the mirror like as a mirror.. do the sun visors work? Mine is currently here... Click image to enlarge |

I took the rear inside lining out and undid the nut holding the washer jet on , then drilled a 10mm hole.
Click image to enlarge The camera has 3M tape on the back but I took this off and used superglue. The rear view mirror image is crystal clear and larger field of view than standard. works really well. Click image to enlarge Sorry about quality of pix (It's peeing down here.) Sorry, meant to say that the mirror is too large for the visor to go all the way forward. "Of Course, Of course, I ain't asking . I'm telling!!"

The install looks really neat but I can't help but feel that you've just given yourself a great view of your spare wheel Darren
