Is it possible a front wheel dug into a rut or stopped foward travel against a rock?
If so momentum would have used it as a pivot point. HR 2nd would not provide as much Engine braking as LR 3rd for a similar speed. It is possible the ABS had a role to play too if it was fairly slippery and you where at idle. Cheers, Kyle. |

Hi Kylie, thanks for your input. No we did not see or feel any rut or obstacle, also did not hear or feel TC doing its thing. No sign of orange light on dash coming on. My passenger feels that there was a very sudden change in the depth of the very slippery clayey stuff across the whole width of the road with the left hand front wheel hitting this first it would have acted like a brake on that wheel and momentum would have done the rest. jackh

wow, that sounds scary!
I concur with Alien, LR would probably have prevented this. I always engage LR on non-tar mountain passes, it just makes it easier and gives me a lot more control should the going get really rough. -- 2010 Defender Puma 90 + BAS remap + Alive IC + Slickshift + Ashcroft ATB rear 2015 Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged Defender Puma Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zZ1en9 Discovery 4 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zXrtKO Range Rover/Sport L320/L322/L494 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zc58JQ |

Hi Naks, Thanks for the advice - I'm waiting for some good rainfalls so that I can go back and see if i can replicate the incidence - carefully. Will keep the forum advised. jackh

jislaaik, after a brown-underpants moment, I'm not sure I would have the balls to replicate that --
