Good to know. This is likely a stupid question, but how would I wire the Kenlowe fan controller to the X-Eng switch? At the moment there are just two green wires going into the top hose for the current thermostatic switch. Is it a case of cutting those wires and connecting them to the X-Eng switch?

Thanks

On my 100" bitsa, I had an electric fan with a 'off' override and warning light when 'off' so when wading you could stop it running and either damaging itself or throwing water everywhere.

I got an override switch on my Kenlowe fan that if the thermo packs up i can switch it on and still go on my way, it has a light that comes on when on Thumbs Up
Just make sure that you check your fan is a single/dual speed fan, it should be on the thermo unit Thumbs Up 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

I used to carry a jumper wire just in case the thermostat packed in so it would remain on all the time.

I fitted a kenlow fan 7 months ago to mine with a bolt on bits thermostat, solid billet type and tbh I've not even wired it up yet and not had an issue with temp once in my 300tdi. It normally sits halfway and only increases slightly when running hard for a long time

I have No FAN AT ALL. been like that for years, never overheateat, [ even with 3 ton trailer on ]. I would flush your system, as these engines run cool.

yes, cut the wires off and connect to two of the three pins on the x-eng switch. one pin is constant to the other two pins. of the other two pins one is 87 deg? IIRC and the other 92 deg i believe from memory. there ar einstructions with it which say which pin is which. you need two of them for one fan.

as above would be worth adding a three way switch so you can have off/X-Eng switch/on in my experience. Cheers

Great answer, thanks.

Last question, then I can hopefully get on with sorting this out! What's the internal diameter of the 300tdi radiator bottom hose? The X-Eng looks to be available in 25,34, and 38mm.
