Just noticed that Britpart are doing to versions of the TD5 filter now;

Original size - http://www.island-4x4.co.uk/filter-britpart-lpx100590-p-1478.html

and Short size - http://www.island-4x4.co.uk/filter-britpar...33056.html

They also look like they are compatible with the filter spanner too.

Wonder who actually makes the filters?!?!

Britpart filters like all their parts are made to the highest standard by the finest automotive manufacturing companies at no expense spared......

....But only on tuesdays. If you get the ones made on any other day of the week they're a load of rubbish, but unfortunately they don't put the date on them. Laughing

The date don't even help because I thought it was only on Tueasdays before lunch. Whistle

I don't have a problem with Britpart but I don't use it for critical items. A seat base for the passenger site is OK as I drive most off the time alone. Mr. Green Roel

After months of thinking about this I finally took the plunge and did the oil change/filters change.

This thread was certainly helpful.

Just wanted to reinforce a few points:

1) the screws that hold down the secondary filter are easy to let fall into the engine compartment. Would be helpful if your tool was magnetized.

2) Definitely put a plastic bag around the primary filter to prevent a mess.

3) Lay down card board. No matter what you do there will be some splashing.

4) I had a very difficult time getting the primary filter back in. As soon as I used a ladder it went on without any issue. Must have been something about the angle... 1999 Defender 110
