Afternoon. Not getting all defensive or anything, but...
just thought I would stand up for the SVX. Yeah I know, it’s expensive(ish) and not the most radical thing Land Rover could have done, but it still does have it’s own identity, like the look of it or not. In my opinion (and what do I know) the SVX is a statement as to where the Defender is now, with a couple of the bells and whistles typical and standard in modern vehicles. Initially I was going to buy a black XS with a couple of extras - so for a bit more money I have a distinctly different car, which is a genuine limited edition Land Rover build. By adding dealer/aftermarket options onto a standard XS @ £26000ish it would be easy to rack up the a similar cost. The seats alone are a couple of thousand pounds and fantastic (the only thing I was not happy with on the XS). Metallic paint over £500, sunroof £250, undershield £325, hi-fi, side bars, satnav, wheels, metal interior detailing etc. The custom designed front grill and lights and badges/graphics must also add a considerable amount too, not to mention dedicated handbook package etc. OK, thanks, that’s my rant over with, back to work! (but, I conceed, the 3.0 litre twin turbo BMW diesel engine would have been nice!!) First, Last - or Different! 2.4 90 SVX |

I wasnt starting an SVX fight
![]() ![]() I chose to buy (with options but before my discount) a top spec close to £30k 90 over an SVX (when i had tested the production not released one). The bonnet decal is nice, granted and some other subtle features are natty, but thats really it - and nothing that really justify's the price and looks...front is awful as is most of the chrome, steering guard isnt a favourite the hard top is alot better than the soft top - granted although i do like the draw in the softop rear. Satnav is good to have mounted into the dash - but much further whats the point, head unit isnt my choice (clarion from memory) i suppose the sub is an improvement - rear lights and badges we werent a fan of, i do like the SVX side badges (may get some of those) but the wheels bad and side steps (well would be removed although i do have them on mine). I wont go on, because im not having a go HONEST! If it had a TDv8 or TDv6 then i would have...or even the 4.2 supercharged v8 (what i waited for) then i would have bought it. Mike |

So we complain because we can't get a 90 and you guys complain because you can't get a 110. Isn't Land Rover's marketing department a wonderful beast? I'm sure its deaf as a post! 110 2.4TDCi 110 300Tdi ![]() LROCV ::: AULRO.com |
