Out of interest, where are you sourcing your connector(s) from? Apart from Simtek, who only do the female connector as a kit, the only places I know of where you can buy small quantities of these connectors, are - Deytrade in Germany and Mouser in the US (via their UK website) The connectors are 10-way Delphi Metri-Pack 150 Sealed Series, here's a couple of pic's from the Delphi Catalogue showing how they're assembled and the component part numbers - Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge I hope that's useful. . Not a dumb question at all The gender of automotive connectors is denoted by the gender of the terminals, rather than which housing fits inside the other. On these Delphi connectors the female connector shell fits inside the male connector shell The 2nd picture in my post above, shows - Female terminals fit into Part A Male terminals fit into Part C The 1st picture shows the component parts of both male and female connectors. . Hi
this is just an update the the previous posts, along with some pictures of how i have over come the issues i found when installing the cruise control first off, i did not like the idea of cutting onto the wiring loom. this is a destructive way of doing thinhgs, and when you encounter problems as i did, you then have to take it all out, and try to re-solder the wires. to over comew this, i have made an extenstion to the T-Harness supplied. i sourced the connectors as uised by land rover - thank you PaulMC - and the same coulour coded wire from Vehicle Wiring Products and made the this:-= Click image to enlarge this is th efinished prototype. i say this, as there are some things i have done, which can be improved upon. the harnes connectors are to close, and do not allow easy fiiting close to the throtle pedal, if these where longer, a neater job belo could be done, and even allow for the mounting of the cruise control units in a better location, say undeer the seats. this is a close up of the the connector that fits onto the existing plug Click image to enlarge and this the connector that goes to the throtle pedal Click image to enlarge the results are fairly good, in that the cruise unit becomes almost plug and play, and can be removed in a few minutes should the need arise. i will post more on nthis, once i have devisd where the unit is to be mounted and where the wires will run. whatch this space.
