EGR Blanking Plate
Despite the fact it is now possible to disable EGR in Software, does it still make sense to use a blanking plate to block off the EGR mechanically? Belt and braces like Smile??

Just had a chat with Gary the owner of Alive tuning.
He says it is always recommended to be fitted for certain.

I think they have some on the site, they slip in between the two EGR mating faces then you retighten.
Torque figures for the bolts are in my 'gallery' WSM.

Thanks Guys
I'm slowly working through the list of improvements I want to make to this truck and the EGR block off is high on the list as I've had great results doing this with other cars.
DPF /CAT delete next Smile!!

So if you fit the egr blanking plate what happens when you reload the standard factory tune map? Surely the standard map requires the egr to cycle and if not does this throw out engine fault codes?

It probably does but I have absolutely no intentions of ever going back to the standard map. It's pants!!!

You get a light on the dash and a quieter engine with a bit better performance at times (possibly imaginary).

I have an Alive map and egr blanking and have gone back to the standard map but the plate is staying in.

I always reload the standard map when I put it in for service or maintenance as I don't want the garage to overwrite anything onto the tuned map.

No, I'll have to change that - Sold Darth last year and picked up a very nice Twisted 90 TDCI to replace it.
