Hi Will, im glad youre pleased and that its all fitted up ok, they are an excellent piece of kit.
The Lotus looks superb, you'll have to send a picture over when its in its full summer glory ![]() Rashers, I used to use the rack for bikes and I've seen some use it with a roof box too. I think the tent would work as when you're using the tent it is mounted on the roof and the weight taken fully by the roof bars. Darren |

Thanks Rashers. You could probably easily get SWMBO up on the roof using the Kari-tek........ I have no experience of roof tents, but I had about 60kg of load on it today whilst 'trying out' a few things. It worked effortlessly. Mine is set up on the Thule bars, but you can fit it to most bar/rack I would imagine. There's an opportunity to create a platform for your tent on the Kari-tek as it has t-slots the full length of both cross bars. As Darren has stated, the weight once it's up on top, is carried by the roof bar/rack of your choice. Personally, I'd think it would work well but as I said I haven't any direct experience. They are a simple but very effective bit of kit. ![]() |

Thanks Screbble.
The Oztent isn't a roof tent, it is moored to the terrafirma not the Land Rover. The RV5 version (which we have) is not 'compact' as other tents. A metal basket is produced by Manbo (I think) so the Tent in it's bag can be transported easily. If you imagine a long thin body bag ![]() This system looks good as I have been holding off buying the basket as it seemed hard work to lift the tent up on to the roof bars. I don't think me and the present Mrs Rashers are built for Roof Tents, if you get what I mean? As for climbing up on to the roof, I don't think she would be thanking me for that suggestion....... |

Aha! It all makes sense now.
![]() Yes it'd be a doddle for want you want. Ideal. As both Darren and I know, it's also great for trips to the builders yards etc. for those long items. I put Mrs H up there this morning. Plan to get her down some time next week........ ![]() |
