My 90, first registered Nov 30 2013, had a notchy change from 1st to 2nd and sometimes 2nd to 3rd. This was evident from new and reported to the dealer. Their response was no fault found, drives normally. This was their technicians opinion. The service staff at Truro took this as Gospel and I was ignored.
I had had enough of the poor drive quality and it was ruining my whole enjoyment of the vehicle so I went with an Ashcroft Auto Box. Very personal decision and I am very happy I made the change. If Land Rover could have fixed the six speed box I would probably still be using it now. Any farther South and I'll need to trade the Defender in for a Landing Craft |

I replaced the rear half shafts and riving flanges and this made a difference to the overall knottiness of the box.
Certainly feels a bit smoother. Cheers Andy |
