It's many years since I worked for a big insurer but here's my spin on it.
Loyalty really used to work especially with a broker - put your cards on the table.
Next really compare the cover & consider a higher excess or additional security to your vehicle.

I suspect & I have no proof but if you have a claim with AF you could find that it would be a very steep learning curve with regards to any claim.
Next you need to look at who actually underwrites your policy & then google them......
You could consider instalments until your cash flow improves.

Clearly IF you are not going to have a claim this time around; ignore all of the above until next renewal

I actually had a claim with Flux a few years ago when some dildo drove into the side of my old Merc as I was driving around a roundabout. He didn't bother to stop as he pulled out and went into the side of me. That happened on the bank holiday monday, I phoned them on the tuesday and had a spanking new Audi A4 S-line on my drive first thing wednesday morning as they drove mine off for repair. Ten days later it came back perfect and valeted too. I left them because I rang around after getting a quote off them and found a cheaper policy. I went back to them and they then offered to beat the ones I was quoted by by about £50. I said if you can do that now you should have offered me that in the first place. I sold my Merc and bought a Disco 2 and went to Annetts & Orchard and been with them since.

I'll have this policy this year (keeping my wifes Defender policy with A&O though, i'm not switching that) and then next year assuming i'm a bit more flush i'll switch back to A&O. I plan on maybe changing to a Disco 4 this year anyway as I do a lot of climbing and walking and the Merc just isn't up to that kind of stuff limited for our equipment to fit in and A&O offer some great LR policies.

Thanks to everyone for your opinions Thumbs Up

Glad to hear you had a good experience with AF.
I have used them before with my Caterham & various motorbikes.
I hope the experience continues to be good for all concerned- insurance works on "utmost good faith ",
