If you are talking the one where you cut down the bulkhead and cap it - then yes, did it last summer and highly recommend it for lots more space to recline the seats and it generally seems much roomier as you have less obstructed access to the rear.
If you do decide to do it, I would recommend buying more than one of the recommended drill bits (don't recall the size) as the bar is pretty tough and kills/snaps bits if you aren't very careful. Phil |

Did mine last year. This type do not need roof removal, takes time and you need to keep trying the trim for a good fit.

Am I right in thinking the seat runners don't go back any further than before the removal?

Correct. The bulkhead hinders the recline angle so lower the bulkhead and you can increase the recline so moving the runners back won't be necessary unless you are a giant.
Whilst you may not want to be 'horizontal' whilst driving, the better recline allows you to push back further on the runners. Pre-bulkhead removal bar, I had to sit closer to the steering wheel in order to have the seat back at a comfortable angle. Remove the bulkhead and you can move away from the steering wheel and have a sensible recline angle too. I have unused slide on my runners now... Phil |

This one is like the OE estate version. You can fit raiser further back sliders with it. Shame a stronger L-shaped option is not available, that does not impede tilting the seat back from completely, to allow horizontal tilting and thicker comfier padding. Perhaps solid bar would do the trick? Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Keep your eyes open on eBay, that's where I got mine, it was only £80 delivered, it was an original part too, the company that supplied LR sometimes had a few that had very minor flaws that they sold off cheap, can't remember exactly who they were as it was a while back Optimists say the glass is half full..
Pessimists say the glass is half empty.. Engineers say the glass is twice the size it needs to be! |
