Hyundai are one of the 1st big manufacturers to offer a complete web purchase for a new car. Choose the model, spec it select finance or pay in full and it can be delivered to your local dealer or direct to your door.
One of the selling angles that they are taking is "no haggling" . Due to the archaic and complicated structure of car selling in the UK they have to pay some of the money to the dealer in your postcode area as a support mechanism for the dealer network so prices will be largely the same whether on-line or in the dealer. It does mean there is very little incentive for dealers to work hard for your sale which is probably an unintended consequence. HR064 Hampshire and Berkshire 4x4 Response |

We bought a Nissan at my old job and the sales at the first dealership were completely useless. They didn't even have to do very much - didn't need a test drive or anything just wanted to buy the car. They repeatedly refused to sell it to us so we went to a different deal who actually did manage to sell us the car. Unfortunately, when it came round to the first service the selling dealer had closed and we had to go do the useless one.
My dad is currently in the process of buying a Hyundai (he's currently waiting for them to build it, deposit is all paid etc) and has got on very well. Weirdly if you work in local government you get a 19% discount so he's actually paying for a friend to officially buy it, and then buying it from the friend. The dealer has been very helful, has let them have multiple test drives (one so my mum could check if travelling in the back made her ill and another to see what happens if you drive it across a field) and hasn't complained too much about the massive discount and dad not wanting finance. The only thing is the dealer did look at him funny when he said he wanted it in red with beige upholstery - apparently the resale value of that combination isn't particularly high and they would have to order it in specially so there'd be a delay. When my old boss bought a Tesla a year ago they were really good with the whole process, despite the fact he was buying a second hand one. Key thing there is that they're not dealers - they're actually owned by Tesla. |

Do you know if this is covered by the distance selling directive? Return within 14 days for full refund? |
