No legal requirement for a centre rearview mirror - you just need to have 2 mirrors, one of which must be on the driver's door. It's ghastly, but probably no worse in use than the vibrating mirror in most Defenders. |

At least you can see where the heater controls are in the dark when the bulbs behind the centre console don't work - like mine don't. |

The process of painting the dash exposes the bulbs you're talking about !
Also there's that pesky problem of needing light to reflect off the dash in the first place. Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants... |

I need photographic proof:
>> Photo of your dash with the dog in your profile pic next to it. Actually, is the dog allowed in the front? If so, then IMO your defender is quite tastefully appointed, even with its orange dash . Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants... |

For vehicles first registered on or after 26/01/2010 there is a legal requirement for an internal rear view mirror unless an internal mirror would not afford a view to the rear (ie no rear window or a solid bulkhead, etc), so on these vehicles the law requires one external on the offside and one internal. External on the nearside is optional, unless an internal mirror would not afford a view to the rear, in which case a nearside external mirror is mandatory. Prior to 26/01/2010 you are required to have a minimum of two rear view mirrors, one of which must be external on the offside and the other can be either internal or external on the offside. External mirrors do not have to be door mirrors, they just have to be fit for purpose and external. A classic wing mirror, provided that it was usable, would suffice. |

There you go. Not the brightest piccy, but you can clearly see no orange in the Defender at all. Dog is hanging off the rear view mirror (hope that's not illegal Blackwolf!). Click image to enlarge |

I'm still missing the point with any of the Kahn improvements.
Do they stretch the chassis or drop it on a 100/110" replacement? 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone 2002 - Black Discovery II - Gone 2014 - Montalcino Red 110 XS SW |
